Though I travel extensively across the world and have had the opportunity to wet a line in dozens of different countries for a plethora of fish species, I still return to my childhood roots and have a passion for brown trout. The Snowy Mountains district in southern New South Wales is one of my all time favorite fishing locations. No matter the season, it is always a spectacular place, from the harshness of summer to bitter winter snow falls, it’s purely a privilege to visit.
In recent times I have taken a step back from actual fishing, preferring to pass on my 35 years of trout knowledge to passionate anglers that have more recently discovered the magic of trout. On a recent trip to the Eucumbene, seeing my wife Shengya, catch her first trout, a 4lb hen brown, I believe gave me more of a buzz than her. Then to have to see Josh land his personal best brown is what drives my passion for trout and professionally as a photographer.
