A self confessed Tournament and Tackle Junkie, Michael Colotouros takes our Lucky 7 interview this week. To some it may appear as though he’s just burst onto the Bream Tournament scene in recent times, but his success is the result of plenty of hard work and time on the water.
1. What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Michael Colotouros I am 23 years old and live in Sydney.
2. What part do you play in the fishing community today?
Just an absolute tournament and tackle junkie, and I have recently jumped on board with 13 Fishing and look forward to representing them in the coming seasons. My other fishing passion is Jewish on soft plastics, whenever I am not competing in tournaments you will find me in the Parramatta River chasing the elusive Mulloway.
3. What was it that really got you into fishing and how old were you?
Looking back at photos probably about 7 years old throwing chrome lures for tailor and Mr Twisters for flathead in Botany Bay with Dad.
4. What is your greatest fishing memory?
I have a few but definitely 2nd in the ABT Sydney harbour round as a boater and a 4th twice in the Sydney Harbour Australian BREAM Open.
And can’t forget my jewfish fishing. Landing awesome size jewfish in daylight hours in the busiest harbour in the world.
5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years
Continuing my passion for bream competition fishing and maybe giving the bass competitions a go.
6. What’s top of the “bucket list”?
Owning my dream rig 21foot bass boat! And going to America and experiencing the Bass Master Classic.
7. Who do you look up to in the fishing community?
A few people but probably Steve Starling. When I first started lure fishing I was constantly watching his squidgy soft plastic DVD’s trying to learn the art of lure fishing.
